SEED is a Japanese contact lens manufacturer founded in 1957. We began our contact lens research in 1951 and have been supplying contact lenses, lens care products, and spectacles in Japan for more than half a century. We are dedicated to providing safe and comfortable contact lenses for every individual.
Besides Japan, we have operations in China, Mongolia, Vietnam, and Belgium. In Southeast Asia, we are entering the Singapore market in 2013, followed by Malaysia and Indonesia in 2014.
Message from the President
I would like to extend a warm appreciation to all SEED customers for purchasing our range of contact lens, eye care products, spectacle frames, and other eyewear products, thank you. SEED has been supplying a broad range of contact lenses designed for Japanese and Asian eyes alongside with other eye care products for more than half a century.
SEED’s offering of contact lenses has met every possible of customer’s demanding needs. Alongside with Made-in-Japan’s “SEED 2weekPure Moisture” biweekly contact lenses, as well as “SEED Fine Series” both available in daily, Bi-weekly and monthly modality. Our Popular “SEED Eye Coffret 1day UV” available in 3 different Coffrets –Base, Natural and Rich Make enhances women’s daily beauty needs.
“SEED 1dayPure moisture Multistage”, “SEED Multifocal O2 NOAH”, “SEED 2weekPure Multistage” multi-focal contact lenses have cared for every Presbyopia patient in their demanding activities. With our lens care products, such as “SEEDO Softcare Pure”, “Softmate”, “Purety Moist” for the reusable contact lenses segment create a holistic care needs for every SEED’s patients.
We offer major spectacle frames brands such as “Vivid Moon” and “Plusmix”, for every metropolitan’s need even when they are not wearing contact lenses and we hope to support as well as meet your vision needs in every aspect. We have been, extensively, developing of distribution channels with purposeful view to launch in overseas markets within the next few fiscal. We had supplied and established our SEED products to more than 19 countries and across regions including strategic overseas subsidiaries in Singapore, Shanghai and Taiwan, as well as Vietnam.
In the research field, we have established Belgium subsidiary company to research new materials and contact lenses for medical treatment. In recent years SEED has not only establish itself as a strategic commercial company but also has been consistently contributed back to the society with pledging of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) amounting to 34 million yen in the guide dog training programs and the walking instructions at The Eye Mate Inc for the sight-impaired individual in order to make their daily live at ease in Japan.
SEED has been concentrating our efforts on using solar panel generators, recycling plastic wastes, environmentally friendly manufacturing and taking part in various regional events in giving back to our society effort to make our Earth a more liveable and green place to live in.

High-Performance and Eco-Friendly Facility
All the manufacturing processes of SEED Pure Series are strictly managed at SEED Kounosu laboratory. Great care is taken in producing each pair of SEED contact lens at the manufacturing plant in order to ensure the utmost safety of human eyes. SEED takes its environmental responsibility seriously and ensures its facilities are eco-friendly.Energy Efficiency Utilization
SEED uses one of the nation's largest steam accumulators to supply steam, which is essential for the autoclave sterilization of contact lenses, in a stable and economical way. In addition, we have also set up solar panel generation system on the rooftop of the buildings to make use of renewable energy.
The introduction of FEMS energy management system in our manufacturing plant also allows us to monitor and manage the effective use of electricity.
Large Reduction of Water Consumption
Large amounts of pure water are used during the manufacturing process of soft contact lenses. To utilise discharged water from the factory, we have built the water recycling system for large-scale water conservation.
In addition, we have created eco-friendly technologies and facilities, i.e. the recycling of the plastics emitted from the manufacturing processes, and we are currently working on the conservation of global environment through various company activities.
High Standard of Inspection Process and Quality Management System
To ensure the quality of the products, we are shipping only products that passed through our strict quality management system and thorough inspection.
Furthermore, using the two-dimensional code and ID tag, we also implemented an integrated management system for production and distribution. This enables all lenses to be traced.
In addition, we have obtained the certification of IS013485, which is the international standard of quality management systems for the medical devices. This has further strengthened our quality control system.
